Maybe This One?

I'll apologise now if you're not into real estate but this is going to be another post centred around houses.  As mentioned in my last post, my niece is on the hunt for a new house to call home and I'm having lots of fun helping her out.  I nearly wet myself with delight when she sent me an email asking my thoughts on this particular house.  My prayers were going to be answered. I was finally going to be able to get a look through this house, maybe even have lunch one day sitting at the groovy built-in dining table but sadly, the asking price & cost of fixing this baby up is going to be too much for her.  No walk through for me now :-(  BUT I am a little excited in that my niece is considering getting an inspection on another property I've had my eye on now for a few months.  Take a look at some of these photos.

Cool & inviting so far.

I wonder if the timber is original?

Interesting bench seat.  How would you use this space?

See how the white bi-fold door opens to link it with the outdoor area?
I can see a lot of entertaining happening here.  Now, where to put the pool?

A bit too much furniture in this room.  Less is more folks.

Can someone please find that same table & chairs for me?

And here's a little of what the agent has to say about the house:

Enjoy expansive views and the best of indoor/outdoor living in this award winning home on 637m2 atop a NE facing ridgeline just 5km from the City.

This 1950’s stucco double cavity brick residence has been deftly re-crafted by award winning Architects Owen and Vokes to create an eminently livable family home and an entertainers delight. Open plan internal living areas open out to beautiful courtyards framing views over the gentle hills and dales of Alderley and providing privacy and the perfect indoor/outdoor lifestyle. A large galley style kitchen with Meile appliances opens directly out to the front courtyard creating an amazing entertaining area that is the hub of the house.

The timeless architecture uses natural hard wood timbers and clean white wall tiles to compliment the enduring properties of the original brick dwelling. The home enjoys abundant winter sunlight and cooling summer breezes afforded by its elevated NE aspect ... A study in constrained and considered architecture, this award winning home has been widely published including in Houses (2 editions), Vogue, and Open Doors - Fresh Thinking in Australian Architecture and Interiors.

It's certainly an interesting house from the photos posted on the net.  I'm not sure how it will relate to a young couple & their new baby though?   It looks as if the entertaining area is at the front of the house which really isn't inline with how we currently design houses.  I'm interested to see if there is a good flow through to the lower level where there is another outdoor entertaining area.  Anyway, fingers x for me that my niece will want to go ahead with the inspection so I can tag along too.
