This Week I'm Grateful For ...

This is the first time I've joined in the fun of Maxabella Loves "This Week I'm Grateful For ..." posts.  I've followed these posts for a few months now and it has been both interesting and inspiring in seeing what people are grateful for.  They can be such simple things; things we take for granted; things we assume are always going to be there.  They can be selfless things; or things of excitement and awe.  Mine is not so inspiring and rather selfish.  I'm grateful for the fact I'm not American, Canadian or any other nationality that has 2 + months of summer holidays.  How do you guys do it?  Is that why you have Summer Camps?  ;-)  All that time at home with the kids, in the heat & humidity ... I'd go bonkers!!!

Now we haven't had too many of these moments whilst braving the shopping centres.

We have had quite a few of these, after all, Miss Flea is 4.

And we've had to deploy this a couple of times ... well, not literally this Naughty Mat "Think Spot".  Any old bit of concrete will do me.

Now don't get me wrong.  I love being at home with the kids.  I love nothing more on school holidays than to have nowhere to go.  The kids, on the other hand, are not so enamoured of my "nowhere to go, nothing to do" event programming.  Six weeks of summer school holidays is definitely long enough for my children to be at home.  They're ready to get back to school & see their friends.  They're craving places to go & people to see.  I'm now ready again for a bit of routine in our lives.
That's what I'm grateful for.

I am craving that wonderful feeling between about 8.15 when they are all gone and the house is quiet...ahhhh and there is no thumping beat coming from son number twos computer ahhhh. Simple pleasures are the best aren't they! Have a great weekend, the weather is perfect for a go nowhere, do nothing program...so funny I am still laughing at that one xx Katherine

  5. I had a giggle at your post. I think the key is to make the school holidays as booooooooring as possible so they are jumping to go back to school...

Thanks for linking up today. I didn't know you 'lurked' around the gratefuls. I'm always so happy to see a new face. Especially a funny one! x

  6. I think most people look forward to being in a routine again as well. I booked swimming lessons for the past week and it made life a lot easier strangely enough. Not long to go know till they're back and we'll all complain how much we miss them!

  7. I can see that you've been an excellent mum in getting them to the point of being excited about going to school again! Sometimes kids don't see the value of down time at home but I think it refreshes them and gets them in just the right frame of mind to enjoy all the benefits of school.

  8. My son is going to pre-school on Monday and for the first time I will have to prepare his lunches. A bit nervous about it, but looking forward to it, too.
