Hubby and I have had a huge day today. We headed to Westfield as soon as the kiddlywinks were deposited at school and day care and we've managed to knock over all of our Christmas shopping bar a few odds and ends. I for one am now stuffed! I'm knackered from walking from one end of Chermside to the other and then back again, but I think I'm more worn out from Hubby's "chop chop" agenda he set us. You see, Hubby is an Engineer so he's very methodical. Loves a spreadsheet. Everything can be put into an Excel document and given a value for an equation. So needless to say, today's shopping trip had been well planned in advance with items compared on the internet, listed, sorted into columns, highlighted and coded. My idea of planning in advance would be scratching out a list on the back of an envelope & then making sure I had all of my coffee loyalty cards for the numerous cups I'd consume whilst shopping.

This what not the image that greeted me in shops today.
The shelves were bare. |
One of the things Hubby likes to do when Christmas shopping is making sure we've got the best price. Now don't get me wrong here, I won't pay over the top prices if I know I can get the same item cheaper somewhere else, but I'm not going to quibble too much over a few dollars, especially if getting that couple of dollar savings means I have to walk from one end of the shopping mall to the other. Yet that's what I got coerced into doing today and I now find myself without a present for one little miss who was so hoping to get a Zhu Zhu pet for Christmas. You see, by the time we'd gone from Target, where there were Zhu Zhu pets on the shelves in the morning, and then to Kmart, Myer, David Jones, Big W & Mr Toys, we realised that the only shop you could get "girl" Zhu Zhu pets was back at Target. So by the time we finally got back to the toy section of Target, there were no Zhu Zhu pets left. Nada. We were Zhu Zhu late!
And guess who is now going to have to source the missing Zhu Zhu by next week? It certainly won't be Hubby. He's too busy entering data regarding Christmas Day lunch into an Excel spreadsheet ...
fx = SUM(A20:C6)/3 Yep, that should be just the right amount of food for everyone.
NOOOO!
ReplyDeleteZHU ZHUs!
Just found your blog and am now a happy follower! I also have a blog so please visit sometime and maybe you can follow me and I'll send some inspiration your way! Sorry I can't help with the toy dilema! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteOh hahahahaha for some reason my daughter was on the Zhu Zhu train early and got that out of her system last Christmas and her birthday in March.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried Toys are Us at Aspley? I know... the thought of it fills me with dread too. But its the right (mother) thing to do ;)
Very funny! For me, a long bath helps after a shopping marathon!
ReplyDeleteI did think of going to Toys R Us but yes, the thought of it ... I just can't be arsed!
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling of exhaustion after a long day at the shops. I call it Shopper's Wilt.
ReplyDeleteI am so amused by your husband's unique take on Christmas shopping. He and I would not work well together :)
So sorry about the Zhu Zhus (but loved your pun!)
