What should I do with this above?
This cute little Ginger Meggs rug belonged to my Dad as a child. Can't remember now what year it's from but around the 1940's I think. The rug measures 98cm x 55cm and is a little discoloured ... I shamefully put in the washing machine once & the colours have run a little :-(
I really don't want to use it on the floor as it's not quite big enough for a floor rug, plus it slips and I don't want to damage it even further. Would you hang it on the wall perhaps? I'm just a bit over hanging onto things, dragging them around the country in all of our moves and not using them, so I need ideas folks.
What about a museum? National archives?
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful.
It'd be a shame to give it away or sell it.
I don't think I'd give it away or sell it. I believe they were quite common in their day and are worth somewhere between $200 - $500 now. I really love it but I'm not quite sure how to 'use' it.
ReplyDeleteSend it to the National Archives in Canberra, or put it on Ebay. It would sell!

Thanks for visiting me! I seriously love that rug.
ReplyDeleteI'd frame it and use it as a focal point. It's really special and lovely. Thats my two cents worth ;)
ReplyDeleteFrame it... we have just been given some framed wallpaper (still stuck onto the actual wall) from Mr SJW's bedroom when he was a kid. It's gorgeous. You can frame anything... gxo
