Too Much Colour?

I'm trying hard to understand how anyone thought this was a good idea.

Now I know I should probably applaud people who are not afraid to splash about a bit of colour, particularly when we're in the age of white in terms of interior design, but this is going a little too far in my books.  I wonder how close the kitchen below is to the room above?

Btw ... if my blog looks a little moth eaten at the moment, it's because Photo Bucket, where some of the template images are stored, is having some maintenance issues.  Hopefully it will all be looking bright and spanky real soon.

  1. There are a lot of blog with that Photobucket issue. Must be annoying for you.

I have problems with feature walls. I think they're a bit overdone. But that doesn't mean I don't like people who have feature walls!

  2. Ah, a girl who shares my own thoughts. Feature walls, particularly painted effect feature walls (flocked, ragged, suede, etc) are the design scurge of the late 90's/noughties. Better Homes & Garden have a lot to answer for! Mind you, I do have 2 in my newly renovated home ... tastefully done, of course ;-)

  3. In spite of being a girl who loves her candy-coloured home, those colour combinations are too much for me!

  4. Those colours do nothing but accentuate the 'fibroness' of those walls. I'm not one for feature walls either, however when they are done well they can look pretty spectacular in the right home. xx

  5. I'm having some big issues with Photobucket at the moment also.
So, it looks like someone ate too many M&Ms and vomited in that room. I don't mind feature walls but they have to be really well done and decorated. But the whole point of having a feature wall is having ONE wall a different colour - not all of 'em. :)

  6. bluerghh! that's terrible. When we bought out house in Brisbane it had been freshly painted, with cornflower blue and magenta feature walls in the kitchen, lounge and master bedroom, truly revolting too. We figured that those colours must have been on special at Bunnings! First thing we did, before we even moved in, was to paint over it all. Bad taste is such a waste!

  7. I am with you. I just don't get those colours. I think they just spoil a nice job really. What is with photobucket? It has been days now. deb

  9. I've loved all of your funny comments about the multicoloured house. Meg and Mum's comment about M&M vomit really summed it up!
